over several months before they begin paying back the loan. “For us it was important to establish one year of sales so they could see where they are and to ensure they’ve got some cash flow coming,” he says. “We don’t actually want to be doing this,” he adds. “This is not a good use of our capital. Our shareholders aren’t exactly excited when I talk about using $20 million, but they understand the bigger picture of why it’s important to drive the level of diversity and participation.” Patrick Klein was aviation director at MCI until his retirement just a few months after the terminal opening. He says the finished project exceeded his expectations, and those of the community as well. “People just love it,” he says. “I’mhearing from everybody that it’s a great achievement. The [MCI] team and our partners pulled together this fantastic project. I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
