New Hope Girls , a non-profit organization based in the Dominican Republic, produces beautiful bags that rescue girls and empower women. Each artisan is a mother, who is invited into a safe work community and taught to sew so she can provide for her children with honor and dignity. With the mentorship of Vera Bradley, they create high-quality artisan bags. The profit from the sale of their beautiful bags fuels the work of rescue of young girls caught in cycles of exploitation. New Hope Girls welcomes these girls into safe homes and cares for them as daughters, providing high quality education, trauma informed therapy, and family. It is a transformative model used to break cycles of exploitation and replace them with cycles of empowerment.
